The question isn’t who’s going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me.
My wish for you is for a life of adventure and laughter. Keep being you…fearless on.
We live in a cult of the upgrade right now. There’s always something around the corner that will make whatever you think is cool right now feel obsolete.
Mom, can I have some photos of my baptism and my communion for a school project? Sounds simple enough, doesn’t it? Two hours later and much frustration (who would have taken almost ALL of his baptism photos out of the album and not put them back?!???!!). The earliest digital photos were printed, but mysteriously not backed up. Not to mention that the CDs are becoming as much of a dinosaur as the floppy disks (which I still have some of!!!). So, the moral of the story will be that all of these will need a transfer onto another medium. And prints. Before we can’t access them anymore.
Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.
Other than the first warm days of spring, crisp autumn days are my favourite. Such vibrance, unabashed colour and joy. You can feel the transition in the air now, even though it’s a warm day today, there are cool undertones for sure.
What’s life without whimsy?

Turns out that you can still surprise Miss L :). She had a great get-together yesterday with some of the funniest and sharpest kids whom she is friends with. Don’t call it a birthday party, though! And then “Crash” the clown showed up and we laughed until our cheeks hurt. Even though we couldn’t blow up a single balloon, we thoroughly enjoyed the show and the silliness that ensued.
There is a perfectly still moment right before dawn, when the sun gathers itself & then steps into the dark world & everything is so filled with light that any doubts from that long night are barely a memory. It is the way of all things that the night ends & the light returns. The light always returns….
Gone a little abstract today. Was trying a long exposure at night and this is what I got 🙂
Imagine a city where graffiti wasn’t illegal, a city where everybody could draw whatever they liked. Where every street was awash with a million colours and little phrases. Where standing at a bus stop was never boring. A city that felt like a party where everyone was invited, not just the estate agents and barons of big business. Imagine a city like that and stop leaning against the wall – it’s wet.
The back of the old Tivoli theater is looking awesome these days. I loathe that the Tivoli will be knocked down to become condos. It’s been my favourite place to shoot ever since we got to go there for a few minutes with a girl in an opera dress and studio lights. That was a little while ago….
Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures.

It doesn’t translate well in the photo, but Little Man’s photo of his school yard is pretty awesome. He’s got an eye for photography and I want to help him cultivate this love. Made it onto the school’s twitter page too 🙂
Pull up a chair. Take a taste. Come join us. Life is so endlessly delicious.
It’s starting to feel cooler and with much of the weekend rainy and gloomy and only sunny on Sunday evening, it made me think of apples and cake and try to recreate Mama’s szarlotka recipe. Little man’s verdict was that the apple to dough ratio was a little skewed toward the dough part, but overall, I think he liked.
