Two are better than one, especially when a little girl simply needs to wear both! I spent the morning with a fantastic family a while ago while a late snow storm raged outside. Ms. A. was very interested in the picture making process and was very proud of both her necklaces. She readily told me when my camera lights would go off and wanted to show me her fairy wands too. Mr. D was slightly less curious about the whole process, but we had fun nonetheless. It’s too bad we could not go outside to grab some family shots – they had the best front porch!

We had gone far enough together to listen easily in the quiet spaces. ~ Storypeople

We started the e-session at the tree where Jess and Jay will promise to share their lives together next May. Jay’s soothing words helped them both to ease into the session and brought forth Jess’ radiant smile and laugh. As we walked through the windy paths of the family property, it was clear how deeply embedded the family traditions are and how meaningful it will be to have the ceremony there with family and close friends nearby. I am looking forward to sharing your special day.

How many grown siblings carve the time out of their busy lives to have a family photo taken? I know that I don’t have many photos of my sister and I together. Yes, there are lots of photos of my sister, who has the pleasure of being related to me and looks suspiciously at me when I encourage her to touch up her mascara, but not very many of US together. This afternoon was filled with laughter as we wandered and photographed. And who could forget the stinky rotting fish on the rocks of lake Ontario?

Don’t let the title mislead you. It really was a family fall session with Paul and Paula and their little guys. While we wandered the beautiful grounds of Paletta Mansion, we were also on the look out for those orcas that Master T was fascinated with at another place and time. Paula said that she is a big fan of black and white photos and I was happy to process the majority of the photos from the session in that way. A few spoke for colour treatment, especially with those awesome red leaves in the background. Check out the spirit of these brothers who are close in age and full of spunk!

Photography brings me into the lives of people during their most important life moments, such as when they promise to share their lives and shortly after a baby is welcomed into the family’s world. It’s a joy to see a family grow, especially one that I’ve had the pleasure of photographing before! Adrienne and Mike met their little girl a few weeks ago and I recently spent a morning photographing their new family of four. I remember their session from last year vividly ~ we shared so many laughs with Master M and his famous piggy noises! And just a short year later we are celebrating their new family member! Enjoy.

I can’t think of a better way to celebrate one’s birthday than by having a photoshoot. That is exactly what we did and we ventured down to Toronto’s Graffiti Alley. What a feast for the eyes! Before the arrival of our gorgeous models, fellow photographer and friend Andrew and I explored the alley. I love the complexity of graffiti – it is at once whimsical and so carefully planned. Here is a sample of what we saw:

Kudos to Daniela and Sonya who braved a very hot day to join us. Check out these fabulous shoes!!

They looked gorgeous while striking some serious poses while climbing onto various things and venturing into some interesting areas of the alley!

A beautiful day, a couple whose eyes sparkled when they looked at each other and a gorgeous natural backdrop….what else could we ask for? It was hard to choose the following photos for Lindsay and Mark’s sneak peek ~ there were so many memories of the day. The finishing touches, the tender words spoken to Lindsay by her mother as she was getting ready, the smiles shared between the newly minted Mr. and Mrs. and the laughs shared by the wedding party all came to mind. And who could forget the post-ceremony and pre-dinner wedding party snack cooler. What an AWESOME idea!

Today, I packed the rocket up for a little trip to meet the newest member of Heather and Jon’s family. First, I was greeted at the door by the biggest black lab that I’ve ever seen and probably the most friendliest (after Sage, but I have to say that). Bear the lab was very preoccupied with the contents of my vast prop bags indeed. He also had some reservations about me taking photos of the baby ~ such a good protector already.

I digress – Ms. H was one of the sweetest babies that I’ve worked with and our time together went by so quickly. Though she wasn’t into curling up much anymore, she quite readily fell asleep and gave me such joy to photograph! We even made it outside with the warm weather. And what’s a little pee between friends?

A shot from today:

I loved spending an afternoon with this beauty, her mom and her auntie. At six days old, she was so blissfully happy and sleepy! Even when she roused, we had a bit of a chat, a pat on the back and she would fall right back asleep in the nice cosy room. Here are a few shots from the afternoon:

Although mom Danielle said she was up a lot with this little lady who was confusing her days and nights, she looked radiant!

And then Ms. R and I had a bit of a heart-to-heart. I swear she could see right into my soul. Don’t you agree?

Thank you so much for letting me capture your little miracle!
